I'm about to begin to release an update to a fleet of PB Classic
applications. We've got it installed on 1000+ PCs.

I'm currently using 12.1 Build 6875 which I understand is a fairly
stable EBF release, but it is nearly 2 years old.

Would it be worthwhile to do a final 12.1 patch before moving the new
apps into production ? (And if so, what is considered the latest
"golden" build ?)

Thanks in advance.

FWIW: The "golden" build for me is PB 12.1 MR build 6518

The usual recommendation is to only use an EBF if it fixes a bug that
you have encountered. Otherwise you are better off with an MR build.

If your app is stable on 6875, you should stick with it.

Agreed, however we've got a very diverse user base who I'm sure will
turn some new bugs we will miss during testing. The installation is
actually a sweet of roughly 20 applications. I do have a mechanism which
will allow me to run a new version along side an old on clients'
workstations and roll back if necessary with the click of a checkbox.
But I would have to rollback all applications to the older version in
order to install a new EBF of the same major version... which I
obviously don't want to do.

I am finding a few oddities with 6875, but no show stoppers yet.

I just thought I'd ask if someone was very happy with a more recent
release.

Thanks.

I'm running 12.1.7055 and it's been fine for me.
But if it ain't broke, don't fix it, because undoubtedly you'll introduce a
new bug when going to a different build.
