PB 12.5.1. build 4541

I have created a grid freeform. I added 3 Columns.
Changes in the Dbname are not saved. I have to open the dw with a other
editor to change the dbnames

Hi Eric;

Sounds like a bug in PB.net's DW painter. I would submit this as a
"bug" to SAP using CaseXpress.

In the mean-time - at least you have a work around (thanks for
posting that BTW).

I never know if this is a problem on my computer or, if it is missing
knowledge.

Like:
1.
Changes in db-names are not saved

2.
Changed the HorizontalContentaAlignment and VerticalContentAlignment of
a tab control from Center to Stretch.

Error 1 Unknown build error, 'Method 'get_Command' in type
'System.Windows.Documents.Hyperlink' from assembly
'PresentationFramework, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' does not have an implementation. Line 5
Position 168.

I would like that the tab control also resizes when the window is resized.

3.
Property Editor: tabpages. Press Up and Down will not move the tabpages
up and down in this Window. However, you do see the changes in your window.

4.
Change the name of the tab from tab_1 to tab_test in the XAML. In the
open event of the window is tab_1.textsize = 20. I now always get the
error Cannot find the element "tab_1". Even if I change the name back to
tab_1. So, in my application I can't rename tab_1, the tabpages or the
dw. The names are now Tabppage_1, tabpage_2 etc. If I change one of them
I have to recreate the tab control from scratch. Maybe I changed it in
the wrong way.

5.
Change the column order of a external grid. I don't know how to get this
done besides deleting all columns. If I move them in preview, they are
not moved in the dw I see when I run the program. In preview mode, the
column is moved, but not the header of the first column I move.

But, I think we get the job done with this version.

Thanks
Eric

Wanted the tab to resize if we resize the window.

Ouch!

That is why I still develop only in PB Classic. :-)

PB.NET has a lot of bugs... We are using it for a mid sized
application, and I believe that for most of the bugs you'll meet there
is a workaround! We are using the last EBF, and yes I know that sybase
consults installing an ebf only if it resolves an issue. For us almost
every ebf resolved stability issues in the IDE and bugs. But to make
some changes we still need to edit source code... Hope PB 15 beta will
open soon, as I would like to see what issues still exist there!

Now for point 4, when doing such kind of changes try always to Sync
Script with Layout. It's on Design Menu.

About point 5, grid datawindows are really usefull... But the designer
for grid datawindows is a disaster. Especially if you have lot of
columns and want to make changes to their order. Most times it is
easier to redesign... I know this is lot of work. But many times I was
trying to make such kind of corrections... I can show you datawindows
which on runtime are showing perfect, but inside the designer, you
have columns overlaping and oher issues.

About point 3, I cannor understand what are you trying to do.

Andreas.

Hi Andreas,

I too am looking forward to seeing what PB 15 has to offer. I hope the
PB engineers are allowed to finish what they started (.Net targets) but
I'm afraid the corporate winds have changed direction since the merger.
The lack of posts since the merger from Sybase employees would lead me
to believe they are either too busy enhancing the product or have moved
on. I hope the former.

Mark

Hi Mark;

I think many of the development resources were reassigned to other
products like SUP before SAP decided to take Sybase over 100%. I hope
too that a decent team can be reconstituted for PB 15!

Hi Eric,

1. I submitted this problem as a bug last year - Case #11753987 The
status is "Open-Dispatch". I'm not sure what that means but I would
assume it hasn't been fixed yet.

2. Here's some XAML you can stick on a blank window that has the tab
stretched.

<Grid>
<pbwpf:Tab Height="228" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="0"
Name="tab_1" PBHeight="912" PBWidth="1047" TabOrder="10"
VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Width="229" X="0" Y="0"
VerticalContentAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch">
<pbwpf:TabPage BackColor="Button Face" Name="tabpage_1"
PictureMaskColor="Transparent" TabBackColor="Button Face"
TabTextColor="Window Text" Text="Tab 1">
<Grid>
<pbwpf:DataWindow Height="100" LiveScroll="True" Margin="0"
Name="dw_1" TabOrder="20" Width="150" DataObject="d_external"
PBHeight="400" PBWidth="686" X="0" Y="0" />
</Grid>
</pbwpf:TabPage>
</pbwpf:Tab>
</Grid>

4. I've seen this problem before where changing the XAML manually gets
PB out of sync. Perhaps following Andreas recommendation will help. Your
best bet may be to use the properties page for changing any control
names. FWIW I changed the name of the tab control in the example above
and it didn't cause a problem with the code in the open event inserting
a few rows into the external dw of the newly named tab. BTW I'm using
version 12.5.1.4015

5. You should be able to move the columns by dragging the column header
in the design painter. You don't need to use preview painter to do this
like you do in Classic.

hth,
Mark
