When I go to files/new/tool/profiling trace view (or routine view or class
view) I keep getting

<correct location\trace.txt Error

Invalid format of file SetTraceFileName. Possible reasons:

etc., etc.

I can't figure out how my situation matches one of the listed reasons. I'm
running in a development environment. The location of trace.txt is the same
as the location of the application object. The error dialague box shows the
location and file name I'm using in its banner. Any advice?

TIA
LAS

File->New .. and then on the "Tool" page..
There you will find some Profiling Viewers.

Profile and Trace are two different things. Trace is a text file you can
view in Notepad. A Profile file is viewed by one of the Profilers on the
"New" window. Despite having the word Trace in the function name, it works
with Profile files.
